Where do you stand in
Guyanese politics?

16 statements on the issues dividing Guyana right now. The Exxon contract, oil money, cash grants, transparency and justice. See your alignment across all parties.

PPP/C
Your answers most closely match the People's Progressive Party/Civic of President Irfaan Ali. You support respecting the Exxon contract, spending oil revenue on infrastructure and targeted grants and pensions.
WIN
Your answers most closely match We Invest in Nationhood, led by Azruddin Mohamed. You want to renegotiate the Exxon deal, break the two-party system and share oil wealth more fairly.
APNU
Your answers most closely match A Partnership for National Unity of Aubrey Norton. You support renegotiating the Exxon contract, cash payments from oil revenue and more transparency in public contracts.

Statements, asked twice

You take a position on sharp political and ideological statements using a six-point agreement scale. Key positions appear twice with opposite framing, once sympathetic and once critical. How much your answer shifts between the two framings becomes your framing bias score.

Alignment, not loyalty

The result shows how closely your answers match each position across all issues, not just the ones you feel strongly about. You might find you align with a party or ideology you didn't expect, or that you're genuinely split between two.

Politics in Guyana: the context of this test

Guyana is a republic with an executive president. The 65-member National Assembly is elected by proportional representation, and the presidential candidate of the list with the most votes becomes president. The last general election was held on 1 September 2025.

The party system

The People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) of President Irfaan Ali won 36 seats with 55% of the vote. We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), founded months earlier by businessman Azruddin Mohamed, came second with 16 seats and became the main opposition. A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) of Aubrey Norton fell to 12 seats.

The divides that split voters

How to use the oil wealth, the Exxon contract, poverty and the cost of living, transparency in public contracts, and the Venezuelan claim to the Essequibo region dominate the debate. Voting has traditionally followed ethnic lines, with the PPP/C drawing most Indo-Guyanese voters and APNU most Afro-Guyanese voters.

How it looks on the compass

The parties differ less on ideology than on how the oil money is shared, how far to trust the current contract and who should govern.
