Seychelles flagSeychelles Political Test

Where do you stand in
Seychelles politics?

14 statements on the issues dividing Seychelles right now. Pensions, the cost of living, drugs, land and the Assumption Island deal. See your alignment with both parties.

United Seychelles
Your answers most closely match United Seychelles, the party of President Patrick Herminie. You support a lower retirement age, higher benefits, cheaper public transport and protecting land and the environment from foreign deals.
LDS
Your answers most closely match Linyon Demokratik Seselwa of former president Wavel Ramkalawan. You support fiscal prudence, foreign investment in tourism and targeted social support.

Statements, asked twice

You take a position on sharp political and ideological statements using a six-point agreement scale. Key positions appear twice with opposite framing, once sympathetic and once critical. How much your answer shifts between the two framings becomes your framing bias score.

Alignment, not loyalty

The result shows how closely your answers match each position across all issues, not just the ones you feel strongly about. You might find you align with a party or ideology you didn't expect, or that you're genuinely split between two.

Politics in Seychelles: the context of this test

Seychelles is a presidential republic. The president is directly elected for five years, and the National Assembly has 34 seats, most elected by first-past-the-post. The last general election was held in September and October 2025.

The party system

Two parties dominate. Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles defeated President Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) in the 2025 runoff with 52.7%, and United Seychelles won 19 of the 34 seats in the National Assembly.

The divides that split voters

Pensions and the cost of living, drug addiction, foreign investment and land, and the Assumption Island hotel deal dominate the debate.

How it looks on the compass

United Seychelles, the former ruling party of France-Albert René, is centre-left. The LDS is a centre-right coalition that governed from 2020 to 2025.
