Where do you stand in
Ghanaian politics?

30 statements on the issues dividing Ghana right now. The economy, galamsey, education, corruption, energy and rights. See your alignment across all parties.

NDC
Your answers most closely match the National Democratic Congress of President John Mahama. You support the 24-hour economy, abolishing the E-levy, prosecuting past corruption and social democratic policies.
NPP
Your answers most closely match the New Patriotic Party. You support free senior high school, a private-sector led economy, fiscal discipline and an independent judiciary.
CPP
Your answers most closely match the Convention People's Party founded by Kwame Nkrumah. You support economic self-reliance, state control of natural resources, social welfare and pan-Africanism.

Statements, asked twice

You take a position on sharp political and ideological statements using a six-point agreement scale. Key positions appear twice with opposite framing, once sympathetic and once critical. How much your answer shifts between the two framings becomes your framing bias score.

Alignment, not loyalty

The result shows how closely your answers match each position across all issues, not just the ones you feel strongly about. You might find you align with a party or ideology you didn't expect, or that you're genuinely split between two.

Politics in Ghana: the context of this test

Ghana is a presidential republic and one of West Africa's most stable democracies, with peaceful transfers of power between parties since 1992. The president and Parliament are elected for four years. The last elections were held in December 2024.

The party system

Two parties dominate. John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the 2024 presidential election and his party won a large majority in Parliament, defeating the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which had governed since 2017. Smaller parties such as the Convention People's Party, founded by Kwame Nkrumah, have little representation.

The divides that split voters

The economy after the 2022 debt crisis, jobs, inflation, illegal mining, corruption, education and energy dominate the debate. On social issues such as LGBT rights, the main parties largely agree.

How it looks on the compass

The NDC has social democratic roots and the NPP liberal-conservative ones, but both govern from the centre with a market economy. Differences are sharper on specific policies and on accountability for the other side's time in power.
