Statements, asked twice
You take a position on sharp political and ideological statements using a six-point agreement scale. Key positions appear twice with opposite framing, once sympathetic and once critical. How much your answer shifts between the two framings becomes your framing bias score.
Alignment, not loyalty
The result shows how closely your answers match each position across all issues, not just the ones you feel strongly about. You might find you align with a party or ideology you didn't expect, or that you're genuinely split between two.
Politics in the Philippines: the context of this test
The Philippines is a presidential republic. The president and vice president are elected separately for a single six-year term, and Congress has a 24-member Senate and a House of Representatives. Midterm elections were held in May 2025, and the next presidential election is due in 2028.
The party system
Philippine parties are loose and built around personalities. Politics is dominated by the split between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Duterte family. Former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested in 2025 and is held by the International Criminal Court, while his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, faces an impeachment trial in the Senate. Liberal and left-wing groups such as the Liberal Party, Akbayan and the Makabayan bloc form a smaller opposition to both camps.
The divides that split voters
Corruption, including the 2025 scandal over ghost flood control projects, the legacy of the drug war, relations with China and the United States, prices, wages and jobs divide the country, along with social issues such as divorce and LGBT rights.
How it looks on the compass
The Duterte camp sits furthest towards authority, with a hard line on crime and closer ties to China. The Marcos camp is pro-business and pro-American. The Liberal Party, Akbayan and Makabayan sit further towards freedom, with Makabayan furthest to the left on the economy.
